The 2023 Sonata immediately looks and feels like a high-end sedan designed with the modern driver in mind. Combining affordability, luxury, and a wealth of features and technology into one sleek package, the Sonata is a great choice for those in the market for a midsize sedan. Let's take a closer look at what this new kid on the block has to offer.
Trim Levels
The exterior of the 2023 Sonata is a blend of modern and classic design cues. From its sculpted lines to its LED headlights, this sedan looks primed and ready to hit the road. It has a lower profile than its predecessors and a wider stance, giving it a more athletic look that will turn heads. Together, these design elements create a car that looks as good as it drives.
You can choose from five Sonata trims for 2023: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, N Line, and Limited. Each trim has its own features, so you can choose the model that best meets your needs. The base model rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and comes with daytime running lights and taillights to ensure you're noticed wherever you go. Hyundai employs sportier-looking front and rear fascias on the SEL, SEL Plus, and Limited trims, while the N Line trim gets unique styling touches to set it apart from the rest.

Engine
For 2023, the Sonata comes with three powertrain options. The SE and SEL trims get a 2.5-liter inline-four engine that's good for 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Moving up to SEL Plus or Limited trims will get you a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four that pumps out 180 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the N Line trim gets a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that puts out an impressive 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
All three engine options have an eight-speed automatic, and only front-wheel drive is available. You can expect smooth acceleration from each of the powertrain choices, but the N Line trim has some added zip that will give you a more dynamic driving experience. All trims also get adjustable drive modes that allow you to customize throttle response, shift mapping, and steering response for better performance on various surfaces.
Interior
The Sonata offers a comfortable and luxurious interior that is befitting of this class. With seating for five, the cabin is roomy and inviting, with ample shoulder and headroom for all passengers. The SE trim has cloth upholstery, but you can upgrade to leather for the SEL, SEL Plus, and Limited trims. Heated and ventilated front seats are also included on higher trims.
The infotainment system comes with an 8-inch touchscreen that is intuitive and easy to use. Standard features on all trims include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. The SEL Plus trim gets an upgraded 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, paddle shifters, and aluminum pedals.
