Arkansas provides locals and visitors alike with an incredible landscape that consists of forests, rivers, and mountains. It’s an amazing place to get outdoors thanks to its mild climate and crisp clean air. If you’re looking for a great spot to do some hiking and get fantastic views, check out some of the following parks. 

  1. Pinnacle Mountain State Park

At Pinnacle Mountain State Park, you’ll encounter diverse geography and varied terrain that make for excellent hiking. There are over 15 miles of trails found within the park. Some of these will take you to the top of a mountain, into a valley. or along a rushing river. Regardless of your skill level and ability, there’s a trail for you at this state park. If you’re a beginner or just looking for an easy day hike, try the Arkansas Trail. It’s a paved loop that takes you through the arboretum. You’ll find interpretive signs and benches along the way.

For those looking to do something a little more strenuous, you might enjoy the East Summit Trail. This 1.5-mile round trip hike will take you to the summit of Pinnacle Mountain. It requires crossing some boulder fields, but it is well worth the rewarding views from the top. If you prefer a moderate hike, then you’ll want to explore the Rocky Valley Trail. It’s a 2-mile loop that takes you through a heavily forested valley.

  1. Two Rivers Park

Taking a hike along the Arkansas River at Two Rivers Park is relaxing and enjoyable for hikers of all skill levels. The paved trail offers everyone the opportunity to view the beautiful scenery, and you might even spot some wildlife along the way. The trail is actually connected to the larger trail system that runs through the city, but the 1 to 2 miles found at this location are perfect for hiking, running, or biking with your pets or your kids. 

You can cross the Two Rivers Bridge, which spans 1,368 feet. It makes a nice place to walk during the day, but at night it’s lit up with LED lights that make it an incredible sight. If you decide you want to get some exercise out on the water, you can rent a kayak from Rock Town River Outfitters and explore the area from a different vantage point.

  1. Allsopp Park

This is a scenic park that features hiking trails, ball fields, tennis courts, and a playground. It’s a favorite for locals because of its beautiful wildflowers and forested hiking trails. There are two options for hiking here: a North Loop Trail and a South Loop Trail. You can access the trails from several trailheads located around the park. One great feature of the trails here are the maps they have posted along the trail so you can easily find your way. This park has access to the river so you can do some fishing after your hike, or bring a picnic and watch the sunset.
