Arkansas has always been a great state for swimming with destinations like Lake Ouachita and Lake Catherine. If you’re looking to get in the water a little closer to Little Rock, AR, we’ve got you covered. These are some of the coolest spots to relax during the hot summer months.

1. Leawood

Leawood is a membership-only pool located in midtown at 8723 Evergreen Dr. They open up for early registration starting in April. Most people who swim here have been doing so for years. The fees change often, but it costs roughly $300 for a family membership or $250 for a single person.

Leawood has full shade on one side and full sun on the other. They have a diving board, a baby pool, a playground, a space for parties, and a basketball court. They also have a full snack bar and outdoor grill area. Members tend to throw their birthday parties here because it’s such a great community space.

2. Walnut Valley Pool

This is another community pool favored by locals and the Gators swim team. It’s large enough to have lanes to swim laps or to enjoy the lounge chairs by the pool. This is a smaller spot than others on the list, with fewer features like diving boards. Both residents of Walnut Valley and non-residents can swim here, though non-residents pay a higher summer membership fee.

On hot summer days, this is a great outdoor pool for families to get in the water and cool off. You’ll enjoy the air conditioning keeping you cool in your Hyundai Sonata SE on your way here. Though the pool is closed on Mondays, swimmers like the long hours here from 10 AM to 8 PM. You can find this facility located at 1205 N Shackleford Rd.

3. Jim Dailey Fitness and Aquatic Center

If you’re looking for both an outdoor and indoor pool, head over to 300 S Monroe St. This aquatic center has a slide and kids’ area in the outdoor pool. The kids’ area also has a spraying mushroom. You’ll find family swim time, classes, and open lane hours here.

This facility is the largest place in town to get in the water and enjoy. As such, it’s great for people wanting a serious workout, to cool down and chill, or spend time with family. An annual membership for a family costs $420, or $35 monthly. You can try the location out for only a $5 daily fee for adults or $3 for children or seniors.

Summertime is on the way, and that means days by the pool and hopefully some fun road trips. Visit us at Crain Hyundai of Little Rock to find a comfortable new car for your summer adventures.
